Iclal Gör Enhancing Particle Swarm Optimization with Spherical Domination Strategy |

Abstract. In this study, we introduce a novel approach to enhance the performance of the well-known Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), a widely utilized algorithm for solving optimization problems. We propose two distinct strategies aimed at improving both local and global search capabilities. To amplify exploration, we create mutations around a hypersphere with its center at the global best position. This innovative approach allows for a more extensive exploration of the search space. Additionally, to improve exploitation, we generate another hypersphere centered at the midpoint between the randomly determined personal best position and global best position, and create mutations around it. This facilitates a more focused exploitation of promising regions within the search space. The effectiveness of our proposed method has been evaluated on well-known benchmark functions commonly used for continuous optimization problems. |
