Abstract. This paper presents the modeling of siltation in a river massif using the ANSYS FLUENT software system with real data from the Syr Darya River in Kazakhstan. The reconstruction of the actual river topography was conducted using software packages (Archicad and AutoCAD), as well as neural networks. Validation of the obtained modeling results in ANSYS is performed using Earth remote sensing (ERS) images, including spectral and radar data. The need to develop such approaches is explained by the heterogeneous structure of the sedimentary layer, changing bottom materials, as well as the complex shape of the river landscape and its banks. The good agreement between the results and remote sensing images ensures progress in methods for modeling the siltation of real river relief. The foundation of the numerical model is the three-dimensional Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. Additionally, the turbulent k-e model was used to close the system of equations. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) method was used to simulate multiphase fluid flow. The results of the study will be valuable in the fields of water and agriculture, livestock development, industry, as well as to other interested parties involved in combating siltation in river systems and canals. |
