Significance and Processing of Signals
Abstract. Both the inner and outer world of a person is surrounded by signals. Humans are one of the biggest and natural signal sources. These signals exist in different forms – mostly analog in the real world. Signals are one of the main information carriers, and with signal processing, it is possible to obtain a lot of useful information. In the simplest case, signal processing is conducted in the field of healthcare today to obtain detailed information about the human body. These signals carry the most accurate information about a person. Signal processing is applied in many fields. Signal processing produces extreme data, and with the processing of that data, an even more useful set of data - information and knowledge - is obtained. A variety of toolsets are used for signal processing. Recently, the most used tool is MATLAB. In the article, the concept of data and signals, types of signals, examples of medical signals studied in healthcare were considered, and the process of sound signal filtering was implemented in the MATLAB environment.
